Dear Perspective Member of the IHM Community,

Welcome to our school!  We provide a safe and nurturing learning environment that is rooted in the traditions of the Catholic Church.  We are committed to the education of the total child, but recognize you, the parent or guardian, as the primary educator.  We pledge to work with you to help your child grow into a moral and responsible human being who has the tools to be successful in high school and the world beyond.

Our model recognizes the multi-faceted needs of children and their families.  We believe in exposing our children to a variety of learning situations and subject areas.  In addition to the traditional subjects, they explore music, art, technology, physical education and Spanish language and culture.  We support the learning environment with math and English language arts remediation as well as counseling and psychological services.  In 2008, we became a Charter Member of the National Honor Society for Elementary Schools.  We also have a full time nurse and access to an onsite after school program run by Kids Orbit.  The Paul Effman School of Music provides our in-school music program as well as a separate after school musical instrument and band program.  There is a parish sponsored sports program for evenings and weekends as well as on-site Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops.

Our physical plant is both beautiful and well maintained.  It includes a computer lab, computers in each classroom, and 25 wireless laptops.  We have 5 computer projectors, three smart boards and a closed circuit security system.  Our science lab was recently updated and each classroom has its own science, health and safety manipulative center.

IHM School has been educating children in Kensington, Windsor Terrace and beyond for over 90 years.  In 2007 we formed a cluster-wide School Advisory Board to help us envision and meet the ever changing challenges of the 21st Century.
